Waverly-Shell Rock SOFTBALL

   Brent Matthias comes to the Waverly-Shell Rock program with a wealth of knowledge in coaching and working with teams.

   During his 5 years as an assistant baseball coach at Wartburg, he helped lead the Knights to 5 Conference Titles, 5 NCAA Regional appearances, 1 NCAA Regional Title, and Wartburg’s first appearance in the NCAA Division III College World Series.

   Matthias also coached 8 years with the Coast-to-Coast All-Stars taking USA All-Star teams to Puerto Rico, Arizona, and Florida.

   Most recently he was the head baseball coach at Denver High. He won over 130 games in seven seasons, coached three All-State selections, and 17 All-Districts players in that time frame.    Matthias’s teams have always been known for the intensity at which they play the game during every pitch and every inning.

   “I am excited to be the next head coach for Waverly-Shell Rock Softball. There is a good foundation here to build upon. Our coaching staff brings great experience with two former head high school softball coaches and three coaches who played collegiate softball. We are fired up to continue to build the program into on of the top softball programs in the state.”

   Matthias is married to Kari Matthias and they have four children, Brenden 18, Kali 17, Kira 12, and Keela 8.
